The community of North Phoenix is one of 15 “urban villages” located in Phoenix and intended to provide every aspect of life for its residents, from diverse housing to varied employment to recreational and shopping opportunities. Each of these urban villages has its own citizens committee, which is involved in planning. Located in northeast Phoenix, this 65-square-mile village is surrounded by natural beauty in the form of the Sonoran Desert and the hills and mountains and is composed of four character areas.
Desert Preserve Character Area provides a piece of undeveloped desert in the form of one mile either side of Cave Creek Wash, preserving some of the natural beauty of this region. Rural Desert Character, in the northeast corner of the village, gives residents the option of a rural lifestyle, with homes located on large lots and plenty of horse properties. Rural Desert Character also preserves the natural wash system due to its low density housing. Suburban Desert Character composes the middle section of the village and preserves the character of the surrounding desert within its site design.
The final character area, Growth Corridor/Core Character, serves as the village’s anchor and the core of village life. It contains the gorgeous homes in the Desert Ridge master planned community in the south part of the village, as well as the village “downtown,” which is the locale of much of the entertainment, employment, education and housing opportunities in the village.
In addition to the features of the local North Phoenix community, each resident has access to the myriad of attractions and benefits of greater Phoenix, including excellent educational facilities, varied professional sports teams, fascinating cultural attractions and locales and exciting recreational opportunities.
